The film King Kong is known for its use of groundbreaking special effects. Made in 1933, King Kong remains well-known by many people around the world.  King Kong capitalized on the special effect uses of stop-motion animation, matte painting, rear projection and miniatures. These effects were simple because they were man made, but they were visually impacting because they created illusions that had never been seen before. Today, even though such visuals are done by computer and on a much grander scale,  they do not always leave as lasting of an impact as King Kong made on the world because King Kong was one of  the first of its kind.

What I Took Away:

King Kong revolutionized what could be done in terms of special effects. Many teqnichs used in King Kong can still be seen in films today.
